Cookbook - Order Dodge 125 Cookbooks
The Dodge 125 cookbook contains over 1,250 recipes. This will be a real treasure of favorite recipes from residents and those with a Dodge connection. The cookbook will be a hard –covered, three- ring binder. Price is $22.00. It's rare that you find something that generates so much interest at the bottom of a box of kitchen "junk", but that's what happened at Wisnieski Auction in Dodge, Nebraska. The auction was held for James Hruska of Fremont on Sunday, February 18.
Unpacking, sorting and cleaning for the upcoming
auction,Glen "Chester" Nemec found what he originally thought was a
piece of machinery or a gas cap. He said, "I don't know what this
is, but it says International Harvestor on it." Further inspection
found the words "cooky cutter" near the handle. The advertising and
web site pictures that followed led to more calls on a single item than the
auction company has ever seen.
Bidding started at $750 and quickly led to $1500.
The crowd of 90+ bidders and onlookers quieted and the bidding continued until
the final gavel fell at $1835. Veteran Auctioneer Bill Janecek of Dodge said
in over 50 years of service in the auction industry, he has never seen an IH
cooky cutter, let alone sold one.
The item went to a call-in bidder who is a
collector of IH memorabilia. He preferred not to be identified for this
article but said the Cooky Cutters were manufactured between 1900 and 1920 to
be distributed as dealer gifts and added that they are an extremely rare item.
Nonetheless, many in attendance went home to search their "junk"
drawers.
